The award ceremony for the “Lee Sung-deuk (Former President of the CNUE Alumni Association) and Jang Hui-hwa Scholarship” was held at the President’s Office on August 27. Established with a 133 million won donation from the seven children of Lee Sung-deuk and Jang Hui-hwa to honor their lifelong dedication to education, the Lee Sung-deuk and Jang Hui-hwa Scholarship will support students through 31 cycles. Cho Hyun-seo, a first-year student in the Department of Education, became the recipient of the second round of the scholarship, amounting to 3,825,502 won. President Lee Juhan said, “I hope that this meaningful scholarship, which will continue for 31 cycles, will be of great help to the students’ studies. The university will also do its very best for the students’ growth.” Lee Soo-Won, the former Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, who represented the family, added, “I hope the noble intentions of my parents toward education can continue through this scholarship, and help many students become future teachers.”

CNUE (Project Lead: Professor Tecnam Yoon, Department of English Education) announced that it was selected on June 5 for the 2025 Go-to-School Consulting Project, hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Foundation for Science and Creativity, securing 1.8 billion won in project funding. This marks the second year our university has been selected for this project and has been taking the lead in a nationwide AI-based digital innovation for education, in partnership with Mokwon University (main organizer) and ToBeUnicorn Co., Ltd (collaborating organization). Through this project, the university will provide personalized education using AI for elementary, middle, and high school students across the country. In its second year, this year’s project will introduce a digital class innovation platform to support teachers in continuing to use AI-based tools in their classrooms after the training program. The main programs include △ an AI Digital Textbook (AIDT) based program, △ school-specific training focused on master teachers, and △ specialized programs for multicultural and special education schools. These field-specific educational models will be implemented in over 130 schools nationwide.

The “2026 Joint Online College Admissions Information Session for the Universities of Education,” hosted by CNUE with ten national universities of education participating, ended successfully. This information session took place over four days from May 19 to 22 and attracted great interest, with 2,300 students, parents, and teachers applying and attending. The joint online admissions information session was organized by ten universities of education—Chuncheon National University of Education, Gyeongin National University of Education, Gwangju National University of Education, Daegu National University of Education, Busan National University of Education, Seoul National University of Education, Jeonju National University of Education, Jinju National University of Education, Cheongju National University of Education, and Korea National University of Education—to provide information about admissions into national universities of education for students interested in becoming elementary school teachers, as well as their parents and teachers. The event was held online, thereby removing any spatial limitations, and included a real-time Q&A session that allowed students across the country to get answers to their questions, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the admissions process. All the national universities of education, including the CNUE, will continue collaborating to provide aspiring students with accurate and essential information.

On Thursday, March 27, Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE) held an event to commemorate its 86th anniversary (March 26) at Ilji Hall, Hongik-gwan. The event was attended by the President of the Alumni Association, as well as members of the board and advisory committee. 17 faculty members who have worked for over 20 years and 10 years at CNUE were presented with plaques of merit, and nine students received scholarship certificates (for the CNUE Development Fund Scholarship and the Alumni Association Scholarship) during the event. In his commemorative address, President Lee Juhan remarked, “We are responding proactively and preemptively to drastic changes of time, and we should find solutions to critical issues we face with an open mind.” Min Yeong-hong, the President of the Alumni Association, added in his congratulatory remarks, “I thank the presidents and faculty members who have devoted themselves to Chuncheon National University of Education. As alumni, we will also continue to work for the bright future of Chuncheon National University of Education.”
